  2. None of the prelates in this photo are cardinals. The central figure is likely an archbishop only, because his cappa magna train doesn’t appear to be watered silk, which only cardinals were allowed to wear then (now none of them can, thanks to Pope Paul VI’s 1965 directive). The rest are bishops since they all wear the requisite manteletta worn then, instead of the mozzetta they wear now with choir dress. That archbishop, incidently, looks like it might be Enrique (later Cardinal on February 18, 1946) Pla y Deniel, Archbishop of Toledo.
